The World’s first Black Professional Footballer – and also the 
world’s first 100 Yard record holder (10secs in 1886) 
Arthur Wharton, a Darlington and North East Hero. 

The primary objective of this campaign is to have a full-scale statue erected in honor of Arthur Wharton, as a symbol of co-operation, inclusiveness, opportunity and achievement that football can bring to all, towards the elimination of discrimination within football and society.

Your donation will make an important contribution towards the cost of the statue, and therefore the realization of an important symbol for change. The cost of the statue will be in the region of £65,000 to £70.000.  There
